Jacques is wonderful older dog in need of a home through no fault of his own. As a younger dog his owner passed away and Jacques spent the last few years with a member of the same family. Unfortunately, they are no longer able to have a dog. Jacques is now in a doggie daycare until he finds his forever home. His foster parents tell us he is a very good dog and will be a wonderful companion. Jacques is a very handsome 9 year old retriever mix. In his previous home he was the only dog but he now shares his foster home with other dogs. Due to his age we feel he would be best with another older, calm dog. Jacques would make a great companion. He is very friendly with people. He is still very active and loves to play and be outdoors. He is used to having access to a yard so we feel he would not suit an apartment or condo. A safely fenced rural or large suburban fenced yard would be perfect for him. In his previous homes Jacques did not get too many walks. For this reason his adopter should be prepared to work on his leash skills. He can be reactive to other dogs when on leash but in a quiet suburb this would not be a big problem. Off leash Jacques is fine with other dogs. His foster dad tells us he is a perfect foster dog. Jacques is a good listener and knows basic commands. Jacques is in excellent health. He is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations. His geriatric wellness blood test came back all normal. Jacques did not live in a home with children and for that reason we feel he is best in a mature, calm home with older kids (12 years +).
